Close Brothers Motor Finance and the FCA scheme
A significant lender in used-car and motorcycle finance. Close Brothers was one of the two lenders in the Supreme Court appeal that shaped the redress scheme. The scheme was confirmed by the FCA in March 2026 (PS26/3) and is currently paused while a legal challenge is heard (hearings from December 2026) — but the deadline for pre-April-2014 agreements remains 31 August 2026, and complaints lodged now are simply queued until the scheme resumes.
The free route, step by step
1) Find any paperwork (or just note the car and rough dates). 2) Contact Close Brothers Motor Finance’s complaints team through their website, quoting your details and “commission on my motor finance agreement”. 3) Keep their acknowledgement. That’s it — the scheme requires the lender to check their commission records and assess your agreement. No fee, no claims company, nothing deducted from any payout.
